OSHA
has initiated a new
record-keeping rule that took effect January 1, 2002. Under the
old rule, business were required to fill out an OSHA 101, Incident
Report for each recordable accident that occurred at their
facility, then post an OSHA 300 Log and Summary form at the
facility. The new rule includes more detailed accident and injury
classifications, and has added an additional form. A new 301
Injury and Illness Incident Report form has replaced the 101
reporting form. The new incident form asks for more detailed
information to help classify accidents and injuries. The OSHA 200
Log and Summary form has been split into two new forms, the 300
and 300A. The 300 form is detailed log of all injuries that has to
be updated each time a new injury occurs. The 300A is a summary of
all injuries that occurred at a facility. For privacy reasons,
employee names have been removed from this form and it is required
to be posted at a conspicuous place in your facility from February
1st to April 30th of each year.
RCI
